Don Julin & Tim Connell

Wasatch Musician, Sandy UT

Don Julin & Tim Connell present a totally unique twin mandolin musical experience. With the influences of jazz, fiddle tunes, Brazilian, and original compositions, the duo brings a well seasoned but fresh approach to the mandolin. While they are both known for having great tone and being very expressive, the duo feed off each other in a way that few musicians can, providing audiences with an exciting, thought provoking, playful and very conversational performance.

Don Julin, author of the best selling "Mandolin For Dummies" (Wiley 2012) has developed a reputation for being one of the most eclectic mandolin players/teachers on the scene today. Based in Traverse City, Michigan, Don has been playing, teaching, and writing music with the mandolin for over 35 years. His original compositions have been used on many network and cable television programs. Recent clients include Sony Classics, HBO, VH1, MTV, NBC, Showtime, Bravo, National Geographic Explorer, Fox Sports, and many more. Don latest release “Tractor II” (2018) is a collection of 13 original compositions.

Tim Connell has created a sophisticated and original global style on the mandolin. Widely regarded as one of the top North American interpreters of the Brazilian choro style on the mandolin, Tim has his own unique voice on the instrument, described in a Mandolin Magazine cover story as “fiery and energetic, soulful and evocative.” Tim’s latest releases include “June Apple”, a nationally-noted album of Bluegrass fiddle tunes with guitarist Eric Skye, and “MandAlone”, a collection of original solo mandolin arrangements including his popular arrangement of “Here Comes the Sun”.
